Brady after latest SEPTA crash: Shut down Norristown line

By Linda Reilly, Times Correspondent

UPPER DARBY >> A Democratic congressman and Republican mayor are challenging the National Transportation Safety Board to take immediate action and shut down the Norristown High Speed Line until a cause of a train accident Tuesday that injured dozens can be determined.

U.S. Rep. Bob Brady, D-1, wants the NTSB to shut down the line and replace it with shuttle bus service, until the feds can offer some answers into two crashes and assure the safety of the public and riders.

Upper Darby Mayor Thomas Micozzie concurs, citing the lack of communication between the national safety organization and the township officials.

“Bob and I did a walk through the terminal Thursday,” Micozzie said. “I wanted to give him a visual of where the accident occurred and I had the incident commanders there too. We both came to the conclusion of keeping people safe is our top priority.”
